End of Publication. (2/16/05)

Well, I announced in #50 that I would be taking a break from publishing while I tried to straighten out my personal job situation. Unfortunately, this has not gone well. With the virtual collapse of 'zines as a medium within the fandom, a dearth of new artists who want to work in black and white, and a dwindling number of subscribers, except the most loyal of you, it's time to wrap it up.

The problem of course is that since Gallery was a "zero-sum" arrangement, the back-issue inventory represents cash that isn't in the bank. To completely cash it out, I need to sell them, or pay for them out of my pocket, with is distressingly empty in my current situation.

Some subscribers have expressed a desire to let me keep the remnants of their subscriptions, others would like to split it up among the artists, while others are saying "Where the hell's my check?!" I need to do a mailing to formalize the choices, and I need to do it soon.

Please, order back issues!

Gallery #50 Ships. (4/21/04)

Possibly, but not definitely the last issue. I'll be deciding later in the year.My personal situation has forced me to put it on Hiatus.

Gallery Yahoo Group (1/15/04)

Dave Morris, with my approval, has created a Yahoo Group for discussion of Gallery, for the Artists and subscribers. And yes, I've already joined it.

It can be found at:

Also, work is continuing on #50. An unbelievable number of really, really late contributions has pushed this one way back. Note the changed deadline for #51

Those Jerks at PayPal have tightened the screws again! (12/14/01)

Now I can't receive ANY credit card based transactions with a Personal account, only those based on bank transfer funds. This, of course, is a tactic used to force people to upgrade to their "Premier" or Business accounts, which are so much better because PayPal gets a piece of the action. In spite of my annoyance at the continual "Upgrades" to the PayPal system, which really amounts to a bait and switch in my opinion, I will continue to use the system, since it only amounts to a dozen or so transactions a year for me. But if they start charging a piece of cash transactions, I'm quitting it.

If you look in the old news section, you can see they took this step in less than a year.

But the Wish List option is still open.

Yes, it's true, and No, it's not. (2/13/01)

Yes, I quit Furry Fandom. Yes, I quit as Art Show Director of ConiFur.

No, I am NOT cancelling Gallery.

Consider this an opportunity. Now anyone can order copies of Gallery Wholesale and sell them at Cons. If you're not a member artist though, you must purchase at least 5 copies of an issue, if that many are available.

PayPal Policy Modified. (2/13/01)

After a few e-mail exchanges (Although they didn't answer my last one), PayPal managed to clarify the limits of their new policy. The $100 a month cap on payments ONLY applies to payments that draw on Credit Cards as their source. If a credit card payment puts me over the $100 monthly limit for receiving credit card transfers, the transaction is marked as "pending" and while you're still charged, I don't get the money until I upgrade or reject the charge, which will not be refunded to your credit card immediately (So you pay interest).

The way to avoid this is to use funds derived from your bank account, or money already in your PayPal account. Payments from those sources are not (yet) subject to limitations like Credit Cards. So, if you want to add to your subscription that way, fine. If you absolutely INSIST on using a Credit Card, check with me first to see how much room is left on the $100 limit.

Now, if you're REALLY committed to using your credit card, and you want to bypass PayPal entirely, here's what you can do. Buy me something off my Amazon.com Wish List, and I will reimburse you in full, into your Gallery subscription account.

Here's a little photo story about it. If you publish a 'zine yourself, this might be educational. I can tell you the more primitive ways I used to do this if you don't want to sink the effort into tooling. Caution, it WILL take a while to load. Binding Gallery.
