With pointy teeth, I need more safety devices. |
Nifty. |
And everything else is all strapped down. |

These are all the small parts for the skirt brackets. |
Production line drilling, using the edge of the vice to index the pieces of angle iron. Repeat thirty times. |
Similarly, the brackets are aligned against the other pieces for indexed drilling. Thirty holes. |
Cutting the angle on the end of the brackets. Fifteen times. |
Sanding them down to the line. Fifteen times. |
Connecting the slots. Fifteen times. Drilling the endpoints first made it a fast process. |

Assembled skirt bracket |

The first skirt welded together. BIG mistake. I welded the long seam in one shot. It curled up. This is the day I was to leave. Life sucks. |
All the efforts in the world, including heating it heavily (Note the coloration) wouldn't straighten it out. I had to cut a whole bunch of slots in it and fill them in with a little welding to straighten it out. It's really ugly. This is also the last known photo of my can of WD-40. I have no idea where it went. I think it went AWOL at Season 5. Cleaning the shop didn't turn it up. |
I was a little more careful on the other two skirts. They were mostly straight. |
The brackets were welded on JUST before we left, about 6 hours later than planned. Trimming the skirts and some grinding were left for something to do in the Pits. |
