Gallery is an APA/'Zine dedicated to freedom of artistic expression. Anyone who can demonstrate the talent to express themselves artistically is welcome to represent themselves here, be they professional or amateur. There is no theme or other restriction of creativity.
There are three types of members: Member Artists, Contributors, and Subscribers. Member Artists are artists whose work will be accepted for publication. Contributors are a subset of the Member Artists who have contributed artwork to a particular issue. Subscribers are people who wish to receive Gallery and have sent in money in advance to pay for those issues.
Member Artists receive one copy of Gallery at cost. Contributors also are paid a royalty which is computed by the schedule below. Subscribers receive one copy of Gallery at cost plus a royalty according to the schedule below, and all pay postage and handling.

Royalty: |
|
Subscriber: |
$0.15 per artist. |
|
Wholesale: |
$0.15 per artist. |
|
Cover Price: |
$0.35 per artist, minimum. |
Cover price is actually rounded up to the next dollar increment, thus the royalty may be slightly higher. Wholesale orders are at a minimum of five copies of an issue. Handling usually consists of the price of the envelope and labels. Royalties are paid into Contributor's subscription accounts.
There is no waiting list to become a Member Artist or Subscriber. New Members must appear in the first and second issues when they join, or be dropped immediately.
Member Artists and Subscribers may cancel at any time and receive the balance of their account. They may request a full accounting at any time.
When a Member Artist's account balance rises due to royalties above a certain level some will be returned to that Member Artist. The amounts will be determined on a case by case basis.
If a Member Artist does not contribute artwork to three consecutive issues, the fourth will be sent on Subscriber terms, and that Member Artist will be considered a Subscriber until another contribution is received. At any time, the editor may re-evaluate the artist's membership.
If anyone's account has insufficient funds to pay for and ship an issue, they will be informed and the issue will be held for up to three months. If no funds are received by that time, the account will be closed and the remaining balance returned.
All members are responsible for maintaining a current address in Gallery's database. Gallery is not responsible for misdirected mail. If an issue is returned by the Post Office and bears a new forwarding address, the member's account will be charged for the return postage, and the postage to re-send the issue to the new address. If the Editor determines that the mistake was his error, this last provision may be waived.
Back issues may be printed by Gallery at any time. They may be ordered by Member Artists and Subscribers at the Wholesale price. Standing orders for out of print issues are no longer accepted.
Only black and white artwork, suitable for Xerographic reproduction will be accepted. 8 1/2" by 11" preferred. Landscape oriented artwork is always rotated 90° counterclockwise (Tops Left). In the interest of image quality, minor touch-up work may be applied, such as white-out on copier artifacts or filling in areas of solid black. However, it is preferred that this be done by the submitting artist. Page numbers may be added to blank areas at the Editor's discretion. A margin of 1/2" on all sides is strongly recommended.
Content is entirely the responsibility of the artist. Gallery reserves the right not to publish any image that violates the copyrights or trademarks of another without written permission of the right holder. Gallery reserves the right not to publish any image that the Editor judges to be below the artist's usual ability or below the overall standard of the publication. Gallery reserves the right not to publish any image that places the Editor, the Publication, or any Recipient at risk of legal penalties.
Interpersonal politics and defamation of character are strongly discouraged.
No judgement is made about the political, sexual, or religious content of any artwork submitted, subject to the conditions above. Such content is entirely the responsibility of the artist. However, the Editor reserves the right to make suggestions about future content, advice it behooves the members to take.
If it comes to the Editor's attention that more than 50% of an artist's contributions have been previously published, or simultaneously submitted to other open publications (limited publications such as Rowerbrazzle are excluded) action may be taken at the Editor's discretion, and may range from only accepting original work to cancellation of membership.
The Editor notes that Gallery has had a history of containing a high proportion of anthropomorphic art, and would like to emphasize that this is NOT a requirement.
All rights are reserved by the artist except permanent rights by Gallery to reprint an issue AS A WHOLE COLLECTION. Submitting artwork for publication in an issue signifies agreement to these terms. Accumulated royalties for Member Artists who have withdrawn will be periodically paid to the artist or his or her estate (Unless otherwise directed).
In the interest of this publication's intent to promote the work of its Member artists, they may submit advertisements of up to one page for inclusion in one issue. They are solely responsible for the accuracy and content of such ads. These advertisements may promote any publication or artwork in which the artist is creatively involved. They may be resubmitted for later issues.
Separate from advertisements, artists may indicate with an asterisk in the address list published in the back of each issue that they accept commissions for artwork. Such negotiations are private between individuals and Gallery accepts no responsibility for whatever outcome.
